Pat Freiermuth wasn’t the only much-maligned Steelers pass catcher who contributed to what had every right to be a winning performance by the offense in last week’s loss to the Bengals.
Roman Wilson played the biggest role of his young career, posting a career-high 17 yards in his first two-catch game across 33 offensive snaps. He had one third-down reception that converted a first down for 13 yards — longest for him so far in the NFL — and would’ve had a second on the final drive if not for a holding penalty against Broderick Jones.
“I feel like — let me choose my words wisely — the player they drafted, I’m still that guy,” Wilson said Wednesday after practice. “I don't wanna say anything wrong. I’m just gonna leave it at that. The player they thought they drafted, that’s who I am.”
