MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - Two Heartland heroes are being recognized for their life-saving efforts.

According to a release from Stars of Life, two Air Evac Lifeteam crew members from Marion, Illinois will be awarded for their exceptional skill, professionalism, resilience and perseverance while responding to a call for a critically ill cardiac patient.

Flight nurse and base clinical lead Arianne Emling, and her partner, flight paramedic Beau McFarlin, were dispatched to care for a patient who had received a small heart pump following a stent placement at a rural catheterization laboratory.

According to the release, the patient was hypotensive and combative, requiring constant intervention. For three hours, Emling and Farlin worked tirelessly to keep the patient alive, even as the heart pump’
