BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham Police Department confirmed new information about what happened at Brother Bryan Park Tuesday, Oct. 21, where several people were arrested in an area that has seen homeless encampments and complaints of drug use.

Police told WBRC that Brother Bryan Park was littered with drug paraphernalia on Tuesday, resulting in some of those arrests.

Director of Operations for Heart Birmingham, Artie Gilbert, said they have visited Brother Bryan Park often. The group helps homeless individuals connect with shelter and resources ranging from food to helping them get an ID.
