WASHINGTON — Samuel Adams just unveiled its strongest beer ever, measuring at 30% alcohol by volume.

The Boston-based brewer announced details about its 2025 version of Samuel Adams Utopia, the strongest beer it offers. This year's version of the barrel-aged extreme beer has reached new heights, with its highest alcohol by volume percentage ever. It is so strong, it's illegal in 15 states.

Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams, said its been the company's longtime goal to reach 30% ABV. Utopias first launched in 2001 and there have been 14 versions of the specialty craft beer. Those typically ranged around the 24% to 28% ABV.
