GRANGER, Ind. (WNDU) - St. Joseph County Park officials broke ground on the new “Anderson Trail County Park” on Wednesday afternoon in Granger.
Construction starts immediately, with officials hoping to open it to the public at the beginning of 2027.
16 News Now went to the groundbreaking site.
Right now, this 115-acre lot only has some tall grass, woods off in the distance and a lot of mud.
Over the course of the next year, construction crews will add a playground, a sand volleyball court and other amenities most requested by the public.
“Park will have two ponds. We’ll have a fishing pier for folks to do some fishing. We have two main trails. This one will be a paved trail. This one on this end of the park will be more of a soft-path trail,” said Leslie Witkowski the deputy director
