The Schuylkill River Trail between Race Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard is closed until further notice due to a sinkhole, the Schuylkill Banks announced.
According to officials, a large sinkhole has developed under the trail's asphalt just north of the SEPTA Bridge, forcing crews to begin emergency repairs on the area.

NBC10 was on scene to find fencing blocking off the section of the trail impacted.
Schuylkill Banks said its also working with the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, the Philadelphia Water Department and engineers to determine what caused the sinkhole, as well as what can be done to prevent more sinkholes in the future.
