A national advocacy group has publicly criticized actress Kristen Bell for an Instagram post celebrating her 12th wedding anniversary to husband Dax Shepard, calling a joke in the post inappropriate and trivializing.

The National Network to End Domestic Violence issued a statement to Page Six on Tuesday addressing the controversy.

“There’s nothing funny about domestic violence ‘jokes’ that trivialize the very real fear, trauma and pain that millions of victims and survivors face each day,” a representative for the organization said.
