COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Metropolitan Airport is continuing to grow, with the first phase of its checkpoint expansion project now complete.

The airport says the upgrades are designed to make travel smoother for passengers while creating new spaces to relax before takeoff.

One of the most noticeable changes is a new exit route with automatic double doors, meant to make leaving the terminal easier and more efficient.

Kim Crafton, vice president of marketing and air service development at CAE, said the project is part of a long-term effort to improve the passenger experience.
