EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials with Daviess County Public Schools (DCPS) say they’ve received a grant to increase school security.
Officials say $500,000 is coming from the U-S Department of Justice as part of their program to help students and staff stay safe while in class.
The money will be used to provide a new district-wide radio system, a new transportation system, and the installation of more security cameras.
“It will serve as the future of the enhancement going forward. Now only does it assist with us now, but moving forward after I’m gone, after all of us are gone, it will continue moving forward to assist,” says Gary Mattingly, Chief of the DCPS Police Department.
