PORT NECHES, Texas — More emergency medical service personnel will soon be hitting the streets in Port Neches as part of a yearlong pilot program designed to improve response times and fill critical staffing gaps.

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Program (A-EMT) aims to help ensure that trained professionals are available for every emergency call. “The goal is to decrease response times and provide critical emergency services,” Port Neches Fire Chief Eloy Vega said.
