A teacher accused of historical child sexual abuse is facing a fresh rape charge relating to a new alleged victim, a court has heard.

David Alan Dempsey was not present in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 23, when defence lawyer Peter Woodhouse entered a plea of not guilty to his client's latest allegation.

The former physical education teacher, aged in his late 60s, has been accused of sexually abusing a student while he worked at St Francis Xavier College in Florey in the 1990s.

Dempsey's defence team has previously indicated not guilty pleas to other charges, including sexual intercourse with a child and committing an act of indecency in the presence of a child, in relation to those allegations.
