APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - A Fox Valley nature preserve is kicking off its “Educate Today, Preserve for Tomorrow” capital campaign.

The Bubolz Nature Preserve’s campaign is aiming to raise more than $350,000 for a new trail system.

One foot of trail will be restored for every $31.26 donated through that campaign.

The original trails were laid more than 50 years ago and have seen wear and tear through the years.

The project is meant to help support the trail’s long-term sustainability, so it can better withstand water and the shifting of soil.

It would also raise the trail higher to help with drainage.

The Bubolz Nature Preserve receives no funding from the city of Appleton, relying solely on donations, memberships, and program fees.
