NEZ PERCE, Idaho -- Firefighters rescued two dogs from a house fire in Lewiston on Wednesday afternoon, according to Lewiston Fire Department.

Around 12:30 p.m. on October 22, LFD responded to a house on fire near Main Street and 6th Avenue.

Before firefighters arrived, Lewiston Police arrived at the home and used a fire extinguisher to start controlling the flames.

When LFD arrived, they found the house filled with smoke and an active fire on the stove.

LFD said fire crews were able to quickly knock down the fire. They searched the home and rescued two dogs from inside.

The damage to the home is estimated to cost between $10,000 and $15,000.

No injuries were reported and both rescued dogs survived.
