If the government shutdown continues into November, millions of Floridians will not be able to receive aid that month from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The Florida Department of Children and Families administers food assistance through this federal program to nearly 3 million Floridians.

"If the federal government shutdown continues into November, SNAP benefits for November will not be issued until the federal funding is restored," the agency said on Wednesday. "...The Department is monitoring the federal government shutdown closely and is committed to resuming benefits as quickly as possible once funding is restored."

The agency added that SNAP recipients may receive notices about their eligible benefit amount for November, but they won't be receiving benefits
