A former Wilsonville city councilor said Tuesday that she resigned from office last month because Mayor Shawn O’Neil allegedly bullied her behind the scenes in the months before he took office.
Katie Dunwell, the former councilor, said in a post on a community Facebook group that O’Neil’s behavior was a “catalyst that drove my eventual resignation.” She cited examples of private conversations she had with the mayor, all before he was sworn in, alleging he insulted her, screamed at her and dissuaded her from seeking nomination as council president.
Dunwell, a registered Democrat, served for more than two years after being sworn in as part of the first all-women council in 2023. O’Neil, an unaffiliated voter, took office in January.
