SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) - Police are knocking on doors in the middle of the night, but they’re not there to make arrests. They’re trying to save residents from thieves who are targeting open garage doors.
It’s a call coming from multiple agencies in the metro. Shawnee police posted on social media that a citizen reached out, thanking officers for one of these middle-of-the-night wake-up calls.
Just before that in Lenexa, thieves were caught on camera entering not one, but two open garages in a single night.
Brayden Hisel was sound asleep in Shawnee when police started pounding on his door.
“In the middle of the night, we woke up to knocks on our door. He was trying so hard to wake us up that he actually turned on his lights,” Hisel said.
