CLEVELAND, Ohio - A double amputee died at MetroHealth Medical Center in May after being restrained by officers who ignored her 23 pleas of “I can’t breathe,” according to attorneys representing Tasha Grant’s family.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled Grant’s death a homicide last month, citing that she died from being restrained in a hospital bed while suffering from congestive heart failure.

The incident occurred May 5, three days after Grant was transferred from Cuyahoga County Jail to MetroHealth for medical treatment following a medical emergency.
