MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) - The Manitowoc Public School District has approved a budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
The district says that the tax levy for the year is a 3% increase from last year, but also says that, thanks to an under-levy, it is 10% less than the 13% it could have been.
The district also says the mill rate for MPSD’s portion of the levy is $5.22 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
MPSD says that they chose a $3.07 million under-levy “in a continued effort to be fiscally responsible and minimize the tax burden on local residents“, as they had the ability to levy $13 million this year because of an operational referendum passage.
