SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Massachusetts State Police are currently in the final two weeks of recruiting for their cadet program.

This program offers a unique pathway for aspiring troopers as it allows young people to work alongside troopers every day before they even enter the doors of the state police academy.

"I definitely had an itch to serve and to help my, you know, my community, my commonwealth. But now it's it feels like purpose," said Cadet Mason Balch.

Cadets like Mason, who are filled with a strong desire to become a state trooper, are undergoing rigorous physical and academic training all geared towards preparing them to go into an Academy class.
