TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - An Arizona organization is making strides in combating homelessness by providing essential identification documents to those in need. The Homeless ID Project, which began in Phoenix, is now operating in Tucson with a mission to help individuals rebuild their lives.

Paula Miller, a program specialist in Tucson, said, "It’s only going to help reduce the overall homelessness in Tucson."

Since March, the project has expanded to 10 locations throughout Tucson. It helps people experiencing homelessness obtain IDs and birth certificates, which are crucial for accessing jobs and housing.

"You can’t get a job. You can’t get housing. You can’t really get anything without an ID," Rick Mitchell, the executive director, said.
