TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- It is that time of year, city budget time for local cities. Some members of leadership in Troy are wondering if they are ok financially or facing a huge deficit. Well, that depends on who you talk to.
City Council President Sue Steele explained, “We needed $150 million in sales tax estimated by the county executive in order to achieve the sales tax revenue projection that Mayor Montello put in her budget. Without that, we're facing a $2.2 million deficit.”
Troy City Mayor Carmella Mantello said that is simply not true. “This is serious stuff. And, you know, we all know it's the silly season. It's politics, politics. But this is reckless. It's a blatant lie,” stated Mantello.
But Rensselaer County Legislators, in the minority party said the math does not add up. “T
