Just how impressive was the debut from the 76ers rookie? He's outdoing LeBron and The Answer.
It’s not often that it gets better for a Sixers player than beating the Celtics , in TD Garden, to open the season.
But VJ Edgecombe got to experience that, plus make a whole mess of NBA history in his debut performance.
Edgecombe’s first NBA point was scored on a made free throw, about 100 seconds into the game. He was far from finished in the opening 12 minutes.
He played all but 44 seconds of the first quarter, scoring a game-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting (3-of-6 from 3 point range). It also earned him a place in the NBA record books. No one in league history had scored more points in the first quarter of an NBA debut.
The previous record-holder? Some dude named LeBron James.
