JUNEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW) -- A tragic fire on June 30, 2024, claimed the lives of six people, including Charis Kuehl, her youngest daughter, her father, her sister, and her sister's two children. The family awoke to the fire in the middle of the night.

Now, Stephen Kuehl and attorney Stacy Alexejun have filed a lawsuit in Juneau County Circuit Court. The case was moved to federal court on Oct. 16 at Airbnb's request.

The lawsuit names Airbnb, rental property owners Yevhen Hurtovyi and Iuliia Lytvyneko, and three insurance companies, Generali, Travelers and ABC Insurance, as defendants. It alleges the cabin was "not appropriately licensed or inspected under applicable Wisconsin and Juneau County regulations governing rental properties" and lacked adequate smoke and carbon monoxide detect
