Prominent Idaho Falls civic leader Carrie Getty Scheid died Tuesday after a battle with cancer.

Scheid authored a monthly column along with her husband Jerry that appeared monthly in the Post Register, taking both a positive and critical look at civic issues and state politics. They announced the retirement of their column in May.
