Two emaciated and dehydrated dogs found in Marcellus Township are recovering after being rescued by Cass County Animal Control. Deputies say the dogs were found as strays in the 10000 block of Pioneer Street. One appeared to be blind. After being treated at Bergman’s Veterinary Medical Center, veterinarians determined their poor condition was due to neglect, not illness or parasites. Both dogs have since gained weight and received vaccines. The blind dog will need surgery to remove her eyes. Investigators have identified the owner, and charges are pending with the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect’s name will be released after arraignment.
