(KRON) -- The teen driver in the deadly Marin County crash in April was in juvenile court Wednesday. KRON4 has learned the charges have been filed against the teenage girl.

The teen driver was charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, a source tells KRON4. The teen also faces two vehicle infractions: driving on a provisional license and speeding.

Last week, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) report revealed that speeding was the cause of the April 18 crash that killed four teenage girls.

The crash happened on a Friday, shortly before 7:30 p.m. when a Volkswagen Tiguan hit a tree on San Geronimo Valley Road, just west of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The crash resulted in the vehicle catching fire.
