MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Before Wednesday’s match against Old Dominion at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, the 10th-ranked West Virginia men’s soccer team hadn’t played coming off a loss since the first week of September.
The Mountaineers followed their first setback with a 7-0-1 stretch before falling 2-1 at Georgia State last Saturday.
In the matchup with the Monarchs, WVU again responded to a loss in the fashion it strived to, utilizing a Felix Ewald goal 1:37 before halftime to gain an advantage it wouldn’t relinquish in securing a 1-0 victory.
“Ultimately, whenever you’re coming off a loss like the one we did, the most important thing is to respond with a win,” WVU head coach Dan Stratford said. “Nice to do it convincingly despite just the one goal.”
Indeed, the Mountaineers (10-2-2, 5-1-0 S
