Days after Donald Trump announced an additional 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese imports, a Chinese diplomat in India warned Washington, saying his country would respond in an appropriate manner if the US did not relent.
The top Chinese official Xu Wei said on Wednesday that the US should “correct its mistakes", or China will be forced to take necessary steps to protect its rights.
Last week, Trump announced that in the event of China not taking any steps, the US will impose 100 percent tariffs on Chinese imports over and above the tariffs that they are already paying. The fresh levies will come into effect on November 1. Trump had earlier announced 155 percent tariffs on Chinese goods.
