It wasn’t a happy return for Virat Kohli at his favourite hunting ground Adelaide Oval on Thursday after he recorded a second consecutive duck for the first time in his glorious ODI career. Kohli was out for an eight-ball duck in the first ODI of the ongoing series against Australia in Perth and followed that with a four-ball duck in Adelaide after India were put in to bat first.

It was a lethal delivery from Australia pacer Xavier Bartlett that ended Kohli’s love affair with Adelaide Oval, a venue where he has scored five centuries across formats. A nip-backer, Kohli attempted a flick but missed his shot with the ball hitting him on the pad right in front of the middle stump.
