Rohit Sharma entered his name in the history books on Thursday (October 23) by becoming India’s third-highest run scorer in ODIs. The right-handed batter from Mumbai needed 46 runs in the ongoing second India-Australia ODI at Adelaide Oval to break Sourav Ganguly’s record of 11,221 runs for India in the 50-over format of the game, and he achieved the objective by hitting Adam Zampa for a four on the fifth ball of the 21st over.
Ganguly played 308 ODIs for India from 1992 to 2007 and amassed a total of 11,221 runs in 297 innings. On the other hand, the ongoing match is Rohit’s 275th ODI for India.
Now only Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) and Virat Kohli (14,181) are ahead of him in the list of batters with the most runs for India.
