Last week, I mentioned going to the annual Bob Evans Farm Festival as a good way to kill a day fairly close to home. I then went down a rabbit hole on some wacky T-shirts. One thing I didn't talk about was the cost. In short, it's a bargain.
Parking is free. Admission is $5. An all-day carnival ride pass is $5. Food from vendors is perhaps a bit pricey, but, honestly, not so much when considering even fast food is relatively expensive now.
All of this was on my mind as I started seeing news reports of a drastic drop in attendance at the state fair in Texas. Apparently, it was virtually dead the first week and picked up some in the second. Overall, attendance was down 400,000 from last year, at 2 million.
