A number of people are being treated for smoke inhalation after an incident near Narrabri late this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Kamilaroi Highway, approximately 2-3km west of Logans Lane, just outside Narrabri, just before 4.30pm, where it was reported that a bus was on fire.

Luckily, everyone managed to get off the bus safely, and a fire extinguisher was used to put out the fire.

NSW Ambulance paramedics have responded to the scene, and a spokesperson told the Leader they are currently assessing a number of patients, including the bus driver, for what is believed to be smoke inhalation.

The highway was blocked in both directions for a while, as the incident was contained.
