Aarya Paliwal potted a pair of goals for top-seeded Pingry, ranked No. 18 in the NJ.com Top 20, as it pulled away from fourth-seeded Watchung Hills to secure a 3-0 victory in the semifinal round of the Somerset County Tournament in Martinsville.
Pingry’s victory advances it to the county championship game at a neutral field in Watchung on Saturday where it will take on the winner of Wednesday’s matchup between second-seeded Hillsborough and sixth-seeded Ridge.
Pingry held a 1-0 halftime lead before tacking on one insurance tally in each of the third and fourth quarters. Tess Mandelbaum scored a goal and Lily Pereira turned aside six Watchung Hills shots to record the shutout for Pingry (12-3-2).
Abigail Hall made 15 saves in goal for Warchung Hills (9-6-1).
