PISCATAWAY – Rutgers football has a major opportunity ahead of it.

The Scarlet Knights badly need a victory after dropping four straight games, the latest a stinging blowout loss at the hands of the Oregon. Their chances of earning a third-consecutive bowl bid are slipping from their grasp as chances to earn it are running out.

Well, here comes one of those final chances.

Rutgers will head to West Lafayette, Indiana to play the Purdue Boilermakers at Ross-Ade Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25 (noon ET, Big Ten Network) hoping to pick up its first Big Ten victory of the season.

If the Scarlet Knights are going to do that, though, they’ll need their defense to bounce back from giving up 750 yards in a disastrous performance to the Ducks in their previous game.
