Ever since his days as a youth attending Shelby High football games , Brett Morgan has long been intrigued by its famed pregame “Pile.” Now with only a limited number of scrums left in his high school football career, the Golden Lion senior standout relishes every opportunity to get into the mix.

“I’ve always been one to be toward the bottom (of ‘The Pile’),” Morgan said. “Tradition has it that the first ones (in the scrum) slide in and make the base for everyone else to jump into. None of the freshmen typically want to do it, but I’m all for getting in there and being crushed along with them.

“We feel every flip and 360-degree jump, but it’s certainly one of my favorite things about Friday nights.”

Added his father, Dany, “He was definitely raised to wear the black and gold.”
