Dutchess County Sue Serino debuted a new plan for the Youth Opportunity Union, the YOU, on Oct. 21, 2025.

The plan significantly scales down the estimated total cost of the project and the size of the facility, including getting rid of the promised pool.

Features would include safe spaces and enrichment programs while connecting residents of all ages.

A scaled-down design of Poughkeepsie's planned Youth Opportunity Union project may be moving forward.

The YOU's vision began under former Dutchess County Executive Mark Molinaro, with the 2021 purchase of the former YMCA in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The project aimed to begin construction within a year following the purchase, but has since gone through multiple revisions and delays.
