NEW YORK (PIX11) – The City Council is holding a briefing on Thursday, demanding that President Donald Trump not send National Guard troops into New York City.
The briefing comes after a massive protest in Manhattan on Wednesday, with people marching from ICE headquarters to Canal Street. Canal Street was the site of a major immigration raid where New Yorkers and ICE agents clashed.
Nine men, all immigrants from Africa, were arrested in the raid, according to the Department of Homeland Security. DHS claimed that two of the men have criminal records and two others were previously ordered to leave the U.S.
Four American citizens were also taken into custody but released after 24 hours of being detained with no charges filed. Families had to file missing persons reports for their relatives
