President Donald Trump is standing by politically problematic loyalists, keeping them in his administration despite, in some cases, congressional misgivings.

Paul Ingrassia, Trump’s nominee to become U.S. special counsel until this week, withdrew his nomination on Tuesday , one day before his delayed confirmation hearing, because he lacked support from Republican senators after reports from CNN and Politico about his past racist, sexist, and antisemitic comments.
