CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland woman guilty of fatally shooting a man in 2023, was scheduled to be sentenced in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Thursday; however, it was continued to Nov. 4.
In September, Manija Downey was found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault.
Cleveland police said Downey, 30, shot and killed Cynquan Leggett, 27, on May 1, 2023.
Leggett was found dead inside his vehicle in a vacant lot in the 7200 block of Park Ave., said police.
According to police, he was in the driver’s seat, and the car doors were locked.
Leggett’s body was discovered four days after he was reported missing.
DNA, firearm evidence, and phone records linked Downey to the crime, according to a release.
Leggett has prior convictions for attempted rob
