Before she was elected the 25th national president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in 2013.

And before her talents were highly valued at the University of South Florida, where she was the director of undergraduate programs and internships in the school's College of Education.

Dr. Paulette C. Walker (March 4, 1948-Oct. 8, 2025) was nurtured by a supportive and prominent section of Detroit lovingly known as the “Old West Side,” whose treasured neighborhood institutions included St. Stephen AME Church, a sacred place that helped Walker develop leadership skills that would become known across the United States and beyond during her lifetime.
