Gov. Kevin Stitt is asking an Oklahoma County District Court to halt enforcement of a law that expands the number of people who are appointed to the Commission for Rehabilitation Services.
Stitt's suit targets Senate Bill 770 , which vetoed in May, but the Legislature overwhelmingly decided to make it law in an override vote. The bill went into effect immediately but no new appointments have been made.
Stitt's lawsuit filed Oct. 21, which the Oklahoma House speaker calls "nonsensical," claims that the law unfairly gives the legislature more power than the executive branch when it comes to commission oversight of an executive branch agency.
