Nell Campbell is a midnight movie icon.
She played the tap-dancing, sequin-wearing groupie Columbia in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Released in 1975 to modest expectations and mediocre reviews, it is now the longest-running theatrical release in cinematic history.
“Rocky Horror” is the ultimate cult classic, a bizarre and, to some, shockingly sexualized romp starring Tim Curry as the "Sweet Transvestite" mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as the hapless couple Janet and Brad. Successive generations of fans continue to costume as the characters and act out the plot at midnight movie screenings.
