CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa –An apartment building was evacuated Wednesday night.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department (CFD) says it was called to the 200 block of 1 st Avenue West at around 10:14 pm. Firefighters say they got to the scene to find varying levels of carbon monoxide on all floors of the apartment building.

Additional crews were called to the scene and the building was evacuated. CFD says the source of the carbon monoxide was confirmed and dealt with. High power fans were used to ventilate the stairs, hallways, and each apartment. Residents were then allowed to re-enter the building.

No illnesses are reported from this incident, which is being described as an accident.
