Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, “Amavasya” - thus triggering a sharp political exchange between the Congress and the BJP.
Addressing a public meeting earlier this week, Siddaramaiah had criticised some BJP leaders for their silence on issues concerning Karnataka, saying, “that south MP, Surya, whom I call Amavasya,” in an apparent taunt directed at the young parliamentarian.
Reacting strongly to the remark on Thursday, Surya said the Chief Minister’s comments were “unbecoming of his position” and reflected poorly on the dignity of his office.
“Calling me an eclipse or full moon, I don’t understand his intention. Perhaps his association with those who look at the moon has confused his geography. His governance, however, is a solar eclipse
