A morning practice session at the Sukhna Lake rowing centre in Chandigarh turned tense Thursday after a large python, estimated to be around 10 feet long, was spotted near the bushes close to the facility.

The python was first noticed by a group of rowers who had arrived early for their routine practice. They immediately informed the authorities, prompting a swift response from the Forest Department and Chandigarh Police.

A joint rescue operation was launched, and after careful handling, the python was safely captured and placed in a secure container. Forest officials later confirmed that the reptile was unhurt and would be released into a nearby forest area.
