The municipal election is now over, and the results for the most part are in. The voter turnout was the lowest since 2007. The election was decided by 30.27% of the eligible voters, while the mayor was decided by just over 38% (which represents about 12% of the eligible voters), and most of the councillors have been voted in with much the same percentage of voters, give or take a few percent. The city will continue to be run by people elected by the minority because the majority of voters stayed away. I understand that there were long line-ups at some polls, and the lack of organization by the city was most of the cause, but the poll that I worked had about 300 people vote in the whole 11 hours.
