Rep. Tram Nguyen wants to switch out her seat in the Massachusetts House for one in Congress.

The Andover Democrat on Thursday launched her campaign for the seat U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton is giving up due to his run for U.S. Senate. She came to the U.S. as a refugee when she was five years old as her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime and arrived here “with only $100 and a dream,” her campaign said.

“I’m running for Congress to restore faith in our democracy and to take on the challenges that keep families awake at night: the rising cost of living, the urgent need for affordable housing, and the relentless attacks on our Constitution and civil rights by the MAGA movement,” Nguyen said in her opening campaign statement. “Our communities deserve a proven fighter who knows how to stand
