A December graduate who recently received H-1B approval in June 2025 has shared their ongoing immigration challenges on Reddit after being laid off in August. The company filed an H-1B revocation petition on August 29, 2025, but the graduate says there has been no confirmation from USCIS to date.

On October 2, the graduate received an official mail stating: “Your OPT authorization period has ended.” Speaking with their college DSO, they were informed that the school could try to restore F-1 status by filing a correction request. “It is almost 2 months now but I still don’t see any action on this approval. Company attorney is asking for 500$ just to check with USCIS on this. I don’t know if he will even try to push my case,” the graduate wrote.
