The moment came in the third over of India’s innings, when Sharma displayed exceptional athleticism to make his ground just ahead of an extraordinary direct hit from Mitchell Owen.

India captain Shubman Gill tapped a Mitchell Starc delivery towards the offside. Sharma immediately set off for a quick single but soon realised that Gill had no intention of changing the strike, and the ball had gone straight to the fielder at backward point.
