Stranger Things 5 is slated to be a farewell and a fan celebration, with the finale episode coming to movie theaters as a celebratory event. Netflix announced on Thursday that the final installment will run in select locations in the US and Canada on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Seared into the pop culture zeitgeist, the hit series is taking its final lap on Netflix in three volumes that drop on Nov. 26, Dec. 25 and Dec. 31, sticking to its release date theme of arriving on or around a holiday.
